Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.
Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a challenging year, winning just a single victory at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.
His varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and finally separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.
Now working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.
It is his maiden trophy since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of the previous year.
The win also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one various events.
"For the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 the champion.
"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his last six title deciders, featuring in that event in the past months.
His counter-punching approach and recurring outbursts on court had caused observers to wonder if his ability to play at the top level was finished.
But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and play positively, backed up by an better service.
The champion recovered from a deficit in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the final five games to take the lead.
The pair traded service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his initial ATP Tour title, took control to push for a third set.
He saved 4 early break points in a tight third set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he earned the title with a point at the net, with his opponent incapable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
