Vinted Users Share Frustration About Sizing Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Social Media Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Modifications
Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, located in Scotland, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
